Harry Brook’s century saw England reach the semi-finals after defeating Pakistan.In the ongoing 10th edition of the T20 World Cup, the British defeated Pakistan in two consecutive matches in the Super Eights.

The New Zealand-Pakistan match in the Super Eights was abandoned due to rain. Due to which Pakistan did not get more than 1 point in that match. Pakistan lost to England by 2 wickets in a crucial match today and was in danger of being eliminated before the semi-finals.

Pakistan won the toss at the Pallekele Stadium in Sri Lanka on Tuesday and batted first and scored 164 runs for the loss of 9 wickets.

Chasing a target of 165 runs off 120 balls, England lost their wicket with the first ball of the innings. Opener Phil Salt was caught off Shaheen Shah Afridi’s ball.

Another opener, Jos Buttler, returned for 17 runs for the team. Jacob Bethell, who came in at number four, returned for 35 runs. Tom Banton returned for 58 runs. Captain Harry Brooke was the exception to this procession of batsmen.

He stood on one side of the wicket and went on a rampage, scoring a century and taking the team to the door of victory. The team needed only 10 runs from 19 balls to win.

At this time of the game, Harry Brooke returned for 100 runs from 51 balls with the help of 10 fours and 4 sixes, bowled by Shaheen Afridi. Then Will Jacks returned for 28 runs from 23 balls.

England had amassed 162 runs for 8 wickets in 19 overs. They needed only 3 runs in the last over. Pakistan needed 2 wickets. Jofra Archer secured the team’s victory by hitting a boundary on the first ball of the last over.

Earlier, Pakistan scored 164 runs for the loss of 9 wickets. Opener Shahibzada Farhan scored the highest score of 63 runs for the team. He scored this run in 45 balls with 7 fours and 2 sixes.

In addition, Shadab Khan scored 23 runs in 11 balls. Fakhar Zaman scored 25 runs in 16 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes. Babar Azam scored 25 runs. Liad Dawson took 3 wickets for England in 4 overs for 24 runs. Jofra Archer and Jamie Overt took two wickets each.
