Bangladesh skips T20 World Cup in India

Youth and Sports Advisor Asif Nazrul said that there is no chance to change the decision not to play the T20 World Cup in India due to security concerns. Since the ICC has not requested Bangladesh to change the venue, it means that Bangladesh will not be playing in this year’s T20 World Cup.

Asif Nazrul said this after a meeting with cricketers at Hotel Intercontinental today. Stating that the ICC did not do justice by not requesting Bangladesh to change the venue, the advisor said that he hopes that they will do justice. However, he did not disclose what was discussed with the cricketers.

Asif Nazrul said, “The security risk we face in playing in India has not changed. The security risk situation that we have created is not based on any air analysis or idea. It is based on a real incident. Where one of the best players of our country, bowing to the extremists, the Indian Cricket Board has thrown him out of India – frankly, asked him to throw him out.’

BCB President Aminul Islam spoke to the media after the sports advisor. He said, ‘We will try our best. We are not giving up yet. We will communicate again today about some more things and are trying so that our boys can play the World Cup. Our only demand is, we want to play the World Cup. Right now we do not want to go to India, we want to play the World Cup on Sri Lankan soil. We are still ready, our team is ready.’
